A king pile wall, also known as a king post or soldier pile wall, is a type of retaining system made up of vertical steel H-sections or pipe piles placed at set spacing. Soil is supported by horizontal lagging materials—such as precast concrete panels, timber planks, or steel members—installed between the piles. This wall system is commonly used for deep excavation support and is valued for its efficiency, relatively low cost, rapid installation, and the ability to be installed with minimal vibration compared to conventional sheet piling methods.
